Ilustration As Books Take a Chance on Me (Christiansen Family #1)

Darek Christiansen is almost a dream bachelor—oldest son in the large Christiansen clan, heir to their historic Evergreen Lake Resort, and doting father. But he’s also wounded and angry since the tragic death of his wife, Felicity. No woman in Deep Haven dares come near. New assistant county attorney Ivy Madison simply doesn’t know any better when she bids on Darek at the charity auction. Nor does she know that when she crafted a plea bargain three years ago to keep Jensen Atwood out of jail and in Deep Haven fulfilling community service, she was releasing the man responsible for Felicity’s death. All Ivy knows is that the Christiansens feel like the family she’s always longed for. And once she gets past Darek’s tough exterior, she finds a man she could spend the rest of her life with. Which scares her almost as much as Darek learning of her involvement in his wife’s case. Caught between new love and old grudges, Darek must decide if he can set aside the past for a future with Ivy—a future more and more at risk as an approaching wildfire threatens to wipe out the Christiansen resort and Deep Haven itself.

Criticism Of Books Take a Chance on Me (Christiansen Family #1)
Review on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2G4PTIU...Review on my blog: http://christianbookshelfreviews.blog...I've read more than a dozen of Susan May Warren's books and I don't think any of them have disappointed me, so I wasn't surprised that I loved Take A Chance On Me.There were so many things about Take A Chance On Me that I loved! I'll name a couple of them:The Setting: I've only read a couple of Warren's "Deep Haven" novels, but I really liked how it was a small-town set in

It looks like it took an incredibly long time for me to read this, but that isn't really the case. I'm close to ocd about reading series in order. I knew that technically this was the first book in a series, but I recognized the town of Deep Haven, so backtracked and in the time since January 25 along with a number of other books I read all of the Deep Haven series. As several had told me, I wouldn't have been lost had I not done that, but it was fun recognizing names as I read, kind of getting

I read Take a Chance on Me in just a few sittings...would've been one if I didn't have a little thing called a day job getting in the way. But I absolutely adored this first book in Susan May Warren's new Deep Haven spin-off series. She's set up a wonderfully fun and unique family with characters I know I'm going to enjoy getting know more and more in subsequent books. As for the main characters in Take a Chance, Darek and Ivy tug at your heart from the first chapter. Their backstories, their

This is the first book of Ms. Warren's that I have read. Let me just say that it will not be the last! I enjoyed this book immensely! The author portrays life in a small Minnesota town so well it makes you feel like an honorary resident of Deep Haven! Aside from the setting (which became a prominent character in it's own right!), what stood out to me the most was the incredible message of forgiveness, and the fabulous, utterly unforgettable characters. I loved both Ivy and Darek, but I think

All in all not a bad book. The ending was good. It took me a week but I finally got it done!! The thing I didn't like about this book was the endless description of fire knowledge that the book wanted to get across. Since I audiobook this book I couldn't skip over it. Each time they started on Fire rescue I about went to sleep. The book didn't need 2 whole chapters explain how they were going to fight a fire!! The love interest were slow going as well. I didn't feel any chemistry between the

Darek isnt the only one whose world fell apart after Felicitys death. Jensen, Claire, Ivy, Tiger, Nan truly the entire community of Deep Haven was impacted by the accident. Three years have passed, but the pain and anger still lingers.Ivy thought moving to Deep Haven would be an escape to a quiet community. Little did she know that she was settling right into the middle of this hurting people. Can this town forgive those at fault and themselves for all that has happened? Can they repair the

This is my first time reading the work of Susan May Warren and I'm impressed. Darek Christiansen and Ivy Madison are powerfully-written characters. Warren's wording grabbed my attention straight away and I read the book in one sitting.I received this novel compliments of Tyndale House Publishers for my honest review. It's a delightful book! You'll most definitely want to take a chance on it!
