Interpretation To Books Stupid and Contagious
I hesitated to even admit that I read this on here. And I had to explain to my daughter why I was reading a book with this title and she isn't allowed to say the word stupid in our house. I don't recommend this to anyone unless their looking for total mind candy. That being said, there are some very funny parts to this book, including this quote,"yesterday I had a woman ask me what kind of salad dressings we have. I told her we have sesame soy dressing, spicy lime vinaigrette, and blue cheese. she made a face and asked, 'Is that all?' 'Yes,' I told her, 'those are all of our dressings.' 'Don't you have any other dressings?' he says. I mean, what the hell? What does she think? That I'm holding out? I was tempted to say, "No, we actually have an entirely different assortment of dressings that I don't tell people about the first time they ask, because they don't deserve these great secret dressings. But now that you hve proven your worth, I will show you to the VIP room, where the array of salad dressings will dazzle and delight you.'"

I love Caprice Crane. I do. She is one of the funniest people ever. She shouldnt be a writer, she should be a comedian. She totally missed her calling. But, you know, Im sorta glad she IS a writer because I love her books. I read Forget About It a while back and pre-ordered With A Little Luck as soon as I saw it online and I absolutely loved it. So with Stupid and Contagious, her debut novel on my shelf, I had to read it. Because it sounded ridiculous. In the most nicest of ways. And it wasCaprice Cranes debut novel,Stupid and Contagious, initially piqued my curiosity because: 1) Ms. Crane is the daughter of Tina Louise (remember Ginger from Gilligans Island?); 2) the cover title refers to Nirvanas most awesome song Smells Like Teen Spirit; and, 3) the cover design (to your left) showing the kids sitting on the retro-green couch with orange shag carpet at foot is pretty cool. So I started reading Stupid and contagious anddespite some early reservationscontinued on through the very
I really enjoyed this one! A funny and witty book, like I haven't read in a while, and it made me laugh many times. I liked how the chapters were alternately written from Heaven's and Brady's point of view. I especially liked the chapters where they commented on the same thing. Brady and Heaven come across like 'real' people, more than I often find is the case in other books. I liked how they are completely honest about all their own quirky habits. A great read, and I found it quite different

I was extremely surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Other than Sophie Kinsella, I've never been able to stomach other chick lit books because they lacked the magic Kinsella weaved in her stories. The book alternates between the POVs of the two main charcters Heaven and Brady. The story begins with Brady being kicked out of his flat by his psychotic ex, Sarah and moves next door to Heaven. Hilarity results with Brady yelling in his flat to test the echo and Heaven opening his mail. But
Stupid and Contagious by Caprice Crane was different from many of the books on this blog. Heaven loses her high paying PR job and ends up as a waitress where she has a hard time not talking back to rude customers. Brady struggles to keep his record label afloat and has just moved to Heaven's apartment building. The two meet when Heaven brings over Brady's mail which has found itself to her instead. Brady is not impressed with his open mail and Heaven's forward personality. Heaven can barely stand
